About Friends About Friends

Our Aim...

The aim of Friends Day Nurseries is to provide a happy and secure environment in which a child feels able to express freely through constructive and imaginative play in order to develop their character. Kit and her team believe this will provide a solid foundation for each child as they enter formal education.

Our Team

Friends Day Nurseries has a compliment of 36 caring, lovely people who form the team at Friends. All are highly qualified, experienced and dedicated to the children and families they care for.

All team members are qualified to a B Tec National Diploma in Child Care and Education, or the equivalent, and senior members to QCF Level 5 in Child Care Development and Management.

In addition to the permanent team members, a Dietician (Msc BSc) assists in the planning of menus and provides advice on weaning and managing allergies, and a Learning Disability Nurse (BSc RLDN) assists in the planning of activities and advises on our choice of suitable equipment and resources for those children with additional needs.

What Does Friends Offer?

Most nurseries offer a range of activities and resources to match.

They also layer on a theme or project, which provides a framework within which activities are pursued over a period of a week or month. To all this, Friends adds another dimension:

  • Welcome and caring for children with additional needs
  • Activities supported by trained adults who ensure that children are continuously exposed to language and understanding.
  • The planned activities are linked to observations of each child so that each and every one learns in the best possible way for him or herself, from birth to five years.
  • An integrated team of Early Years Assistants, teaching staff and management ensure that equal priority is given to both care and education.
  • A continuous high level of staffing from the moment we open to the time we close, allowing lots of time for parents questions and involvement.
  • Continuous professional development for all our staff to ensure that the changing needs of both parents and child are always met.
  • A 'Healthy Eating Menu' advised by a Dietician and delivered in partnership with the award winning childrens cater ‘Moon and Spoon’ moonandspoon.com
